Here is our precious Kiva. He was such a sweet boy and we will miss him.
“The story of Kiva began when I took my car to Fort Collins for an oil change. I had time to spare so I walked over to a nearby mall. As I walked around the mall, I saw these adorable little fur balls in the window of a pet store. I had never seen this breed before so I hung out until the store opened. I was only going to inquire about the breed. I had no intention of buying a dog, not that day or any day. I had kept my heart guarded from loving another dog after losing my Black Lab/Saint Bernard many years before. Of course, they offered to let me hold one of the puppies. What could that hurt? I was only going to hold one. Two hours later, we were the proud owner of a little, male Lhasa Apso that we named Kiva. We found out later that his name was a Native American word meaning “ceremonial hole in the ground.” At our first vet visit, they determined that Kiva was probably from a puppy mill and snatched away from his mama too early – he was most likely only five weeks old rather than eight or nine weeks old as stated on his pedigree papers. He was always our “special” little guy because he definitely was more needy than any pup I’d ever owned. Kiva lived with us for 13 years and 3 months. Many thanks to Home to Heaven for being there during our time of saying goodbye.” Thanks again for being here for us…
